Job Responsibilities:
The Caseworker / Legal Assistant at the law firm is entrusted with providing both administrative and client support within a legal framework. The role primarily involves assisting attorneys with effective case management and maintaining clear communication with clients. Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the primary contact for clients, offering updates, collecting necessary information, and scheduling appointments.
- Maintaining and updating client files according to firm procedures and confidentiality standards.
- Assisting in the preparation of case summaries, timelines, and basic legal forms under the guidance of an attorney.
- Coordinating with attorneys to manage case milestones and deadlines.
- Monitoring and following up on pending tasks or outstanding client documentation.
- Performing routine administrative tasks such as data entry, document scanning, email correspondence, and case tracking.
- Managing incoming and outgoing communication related to active cases.
- Supporting the legal team with special projects, research requests, or organizational needs.
- Assisting with billing entries, time tracking, and retainer follow-ups when necessary.
Education and Experience Information:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required, although a college degree is preferred.
- Candidates should have 1–2 years of experience in a law office, case management, or an administrative support role in a legal or similar professional setting.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
- Candidates must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and case management software such as Clio, MyCase, or PracticePanther is required.
- The ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism is crucial.
- Bilingual skills, particularly in English and Spanish or other languages, are considered a plus.
