Job Title: Senior Legal Assistant - Calendar Management
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage the firm-wide calendar to ensure all deadlines are accurately and timely entered.
- Calculate rule-based deadlines, confirm the calendar, and provide weekly calendar reports.
- Review all daily incoming mail, email, and faxes.
- Check tentative rulings.
- Book conference rooms.
- Set up Court Calls, court reporters, and videographers appearances.
- Assist attorneys with state and federal electronic and hardcopy filings.
- Assist paralegals and attorneys with the service of all filed pleadings.
- Establish and maintain a database for attorneys' electronic registration and filing credentials.
- Occasionally travel to court to file, retrieve, and deliver paper copies when required.
- Prepare briefs and other legal documents for filing, including proofreading, cite checking, compiling exhibits and appendices, formatting documents according to local rules, and filing documents.
- Review documents to be filed for form and procedural compliance.
- Research and provide guidance to attorneys regarding litigation applicable filing procedures.
- Possess knowledge of Rules of Court.
- Check tentative rulings and track deadlines such as subpoenas.
Education and Experience Information:
- Minimum of 5 years of prior law firm experience as a legal secretary with calendaring software experience required.
- Graduation from high school or GED; some college or business school is a plus.
- Knowledge of Federal and State civil court rules, including the California Code of Civil Procedure and California Rules of Court.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and court-related systems (., PACER and state court systems).
- Knowledge of legal calendaring systems and Legal Case Management Systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and a good team player.
- Ability to work and think independently.
- Familiarity with legal formats, procedures, and terminology.
Salary Information:
