Job Title: Litigation Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain internal case databases, including importing and exporting documents, searching for documents, running productions, running analytics, email threading, document review, and coding documents.
- Conduct document searches using e-Discovery tools (., Relativity) and perform factual research via Westlaw and online sources.
- Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions by gathering and preparing documents relevant to the deponent and organizing exhibits.
- Oversee the progress of documents through litigation, order transcripts/medical records, etc., from third-party entities, and fulfill requests from outside counsel and others.
- Prepare for and attend trials/arbitrations: organize exhibits, files, and all other supporting documents and materials, coordinate trial set-up and logistics, and assist attorneys in the courtroom.
- Operate and manage electronic trial presentation tools.
- Handle all aspects of discovery: organize, review, analyze, and summarize discovery responses; respond to discovery requests; and prepare subpoenas to third parties.
- Demonstrate strong analytical and technical skills throughout all phases of litigation.
- Work with attorneys and legal secretaries in the preparation and filing of all court documents.
- Act as a liaison between various internal departments and outside vendors.
- Assist with PAGA/class action timecard/wage record analysis and damages calculations using Excel templates.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of complex litigation experience is required, with a focus on general civil litigation, with emphasis in employment and real estate matters, preferred.
- Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved school or program is required, or a bachelor’s degree with recent attorney declaration.
- Trial experience strongly preferred, including exhibit and witness preparation, subpoena drafting, and courtroom support.
- Extensive experience with electronic legal database software, such as Relativity, is required.
- PAGA/class action experience, including wage record analysis damages calculations, preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and litigation software, including CaseMap, TextMap, Relativity, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Sanction or Trial Director.
- Advanced Excel skills are required.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with iManage, or similar document management system.
- Ability to manage multiple files and projects concurrently and to perform well under pressure.
- Self-starter who works effectively both independently and collaboratively, while providing prompt support to attorneys.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with attorneys and legal professionals at all levels.
Salary Information:
- Salary range: $90,000-$110,000
