Job Title: Paralegal - Labor and Employment
Job Responsibilities:
The Paralegal for the Labor and Employment department at the law firm is responsible for providing a comprehensive range of administrative and substantive legal support. The primary duties include:
- Acting as a liaison between clients and the law firm to enhance relationships and serve as a legal project manager.
- Collecting, organizing, and maintaining essential data and fact discovery to influence attorney strategy.
- Enhancing communication with clients to increase efficiency and build trust.
- Maintaining documents and databases while analyzing data using computer-assisted review technologies.
- Collaborating with staff and attorney stakeholders to scope, plan, and manage medium to high complexity projects on a global scale.
- Assisting with service of discovery requests and document productions.
- Drafting, proofing, editing, and filing court filings, briefings, and supporting exhibits.
- Participating in fact investigation, witness interviews, and research into publicly available documents.
- Conducting fact and cite-checking, as well as Bluebook briefs, memoranda, and expert reports.
- Creating Tables of Authorities and Tables of Contents for court briefings.
- Calendaring events and deadlines with the Calendaring department, along with tracking and communicating case-related dates and information.
- Assisting with deposition logistics and preparation, including witness preparation and creation of direct- and cross-examination binders.
- Assisting with pretrial submissions such as exhibit lists, deposition designations, and trial briefs.
- Supporting trial logistics, electronic courtroom set-up, and demonstratives.
- Attending daily trials and managing exhibit logging and tracking.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates are expected to have a Bachelor's degree and at least two years of administrative support experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in a litigation environment is highly desired, along with previous law firm experience. The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Portable Document Format (PDF) software. An understanding of litigation support systems, including West Law Case Notebook and Relativity, is strongly desired.
The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must manage confidential information with discretion, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and exhibit strong interpersonal skills. The ability to work autonomously while effectively functioning in a team environment is crucial. Strategic thinking and initiative in handling assignments and projects are also essential. Flexibility to work overtime or travel as needed to meet deadlines is desired.
