K&L Gates, a global law firm, is seeking a talented and experienced Data Architect to join their IT Department. This role involves designing data structures and infrastructure, identifying data sources, and collaborating with departments to enhance business operations. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering and expertise in managing large-scale Azure big data solutions.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports to the Data Scientist
- Works closely with the Global Information Technology Teams
- Collaborates with other departments, IT peers, IT architects, directors, executives, and external vendors

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Enhance the firm's data strategy by collaborating with data stakeholders
- Develop, implement and maintain data architectures and standards
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable, reliable, and secure data pipelines
- Participate in requirements gathering and innovation processes
- Collaborate with other architects and data teams to ensure consistency and interoperability
- Conduct regular performance assessments and optimize data applications
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation
- Ensure data science outputs are effective for business operations
- Design and implement data insight products and services
- Collaborate with other elements of the firm's data function
- Serve as a solutions expert and support applications and software
- Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies
- Design the data platform to create a unified data ecosystem
- Facilitate the enforcement of data governance and security policies
- Work with the quality assurance team and assist with testing
- Act as an exemplary Enterprise Applications Team member
- Engage in self-training and professional development
- Participate as an influential member of the Data Control Board
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development and engineering teams
- Meet with vendors to identify opportunities for training and development

EXPERIENCE SKILLS REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering or related roles
- Expertise in managing large-scale Azure big data solutions
- Proficiency in coding or scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, Scala, R, SQL
- Ability to acquire and assess data from various sources
- Experience with global data handling and regulatory standards
- Familiarity with data modeling tools such as Microsoft Power BI or Tableau
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other data analysis tools
- Extensive understanding of the legal industry
- Experience delivering cross-functional projects
- Advanced knowledge of KCS methodology
- Industry certifications in Data Science/Engineering
- Experience collaborating with multiple departments/business units
- Familiarity with distributed systems and organizational structures

ADDITIONAL ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work on a team with members in different locations and time zones
- Willingness to travel as required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other firm applications
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions
- Stay updated on technologies and perform job functions
- Ability to work in an office or suitable remote location

Compensation Salary $124,000 - $240,000

The compensation salary for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors.
