Information Governance Analyst

Job Title: Information Governance Analyst

Summary:
The Information Governance Analyst is a key member of a professional team dedicated to implementing and managing Information Governance (IG) operations throughout the information lifecycle. This role is essential for supporting a diverse range of stakeholders including practice groups, leadership, and administrative departments. The objective is to both implement and continuously improve information governance capabilities and offerings that align with the strategic objectives of the law firm while ensuring adherence to legal, regulatory, ethical, and client obligations.

Job Responsibilities:
- Support, administer, and monitor various processes associated with the law firm's Information Governance program to mitigate risks.
- Assist IG leadership in developing and implementing policies and processes for managing client and firm administrative records.
- Develop processes related to the lifecycle of client and firm records, including the preservation of electronic records.
- Support IG leadership with the documentation of business and system requirements for information governance technologies and tooling.
- Participate in matter mobility and maintenance operations to safeguard data integrity between record sources and databases.
- Handle operational requests for client records onboarding and offboarding.
- Transfer electronic records to and from the law firm's Document Management System and other approved repositories.
- Secure sensitive and protected data to ensure compliance with ethical, client, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure inbound electronic data and metadata are accurately imported, classified, and assigned to corresponding client/matter workspaces.
- Respond to and resolve Information Governance tickets.
- Liaise with attorneys and administrative departments to administer legal holds as directed.
- Assist IG leadership with root-cause analysis and reporting.
- Support the development of IG training materials.
- Ensure timely completion of necessary administrative duties, procedures, and preparation of management reports as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Information:
Education & Credentials:
- A college degree is strongly preferred, ideally in Information Systems or a related technical discipline.

Knowledge & Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, ideally within a large law firm, a comparable professional services organization, or a legal information services provider.
- Experience with common Information Governance technologies and solutions, such as document management systems, data migration, electronic/physical records management, and data transfer, security, and access management.
- Experience handling large volumes of data, preferably unstructured datasets.
- Experience in developing and documenting processes and workflows.
- Familiarity with enterprise technology solutions used for managing both physical and electronic information.
- Understanding of the information lifecycle and industry best practices for electronic and physical data retention, organization, and discovery.
- Familiarity with privacy regulations related to information governance, such as GDPR.

Skills & Expectations:
- Ability to work in a demanding environment with frequently changing priorities.
- Highly motivated, analytical, organized, and efficient.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word).
- Strong technical skills relevant to IG operations, including data mapping, metadata management (classification, coding, and security), data protection, privacy and confidentiality, and data loss prevention.
- Excellent independent decision-making capabilities and a solution-oriented attitude.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Salary Information:
Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Information Governance Manager
Workplace Type: Hybrid
Salary Range: $82,000 - $116,000.

Candidates hired for staff positions with a minimum work schedule of 30 hours per week are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including healthcare insurance.
