Job Title: Litigation Legal Assistant – On-Site Role in Miami
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist lawyers and paralegals with day-to-day tasks related to litigation in both state and federal courts.
- Aid attorneys in preparing for depositions, hearings, trials, and conferences.
- Perform administrative duties, such as coordinating meetings, scheduling, answering and directing phone calls, maintaining and organizing electronic case files, and updating files with case status and information.
- Schedule hearings, pre-depositions, depositions, mediations, conferences, and other events using various ancillary systems and programs.
- Compile and organize documents, prepare binders and/or folders, and gather records, documents, and other materials.
- Manage scheduling and calendaring.
Education and Experience Information:
- The candidate must have at least 2-3 years of experience as a legal assistant in federal court.
- Familiarity with legal procedures and terminology is required.
- Understanding of Federal and Florida Rules of Civil Procedure is necessary.
- Experience with electronic filing in state and federal courts and calendaring is essential.
- Knowledge of the federal court litigation process and court procedures, including Florida E-Filing (ECF), is required.
- Experience with trial preparation is beneficial.
- Advanced skill level with Microsoft Office software, including excellent typing and organizational skills, is necessary.
- Ability to work independently and manage case and document management using Litify, iManage, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe.
- Capability to e-file legal documents in PACER and Florida’s E-Portal System is needed.
- The candidate must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, remain calm under the pressure of multiple deadlines, and possess good written and verbal communication skills, common sense, and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ideal candidates must be detail-oriented, work well under pressure, and have a good attendance record.
