Job Title: Litigation Assistant

Job Responsibilities:
The Litigation Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the legal team by managing the day-to-day operations of the law firm. The responsibilities include performing a variety of administrative duties such as scheduling calendar hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and managing logistics. The Litigation Assistant is also responsible for maintaining pleadings and discovery indexes, organizing exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices, and implementing and improving administrative processes to enhance workflow efficiency.

Additionally, the Litigation Assistant is tasked with collecting, examining, and organizing evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation. Drafting and proofreading correspondence and legal documents, such as pleadings and contracts, are also key responsibilities. They are expected to research regulations, laws, and legal articles to assist with the preparation of reports, case files, and legal advice.

The role involves managing client billing by preparing, finalizing, and sending out bills, as well as resolving billing issues in cooperation with the billing attorney. The Litigation Assistant communicates with clients and witnesses to schedule meetings, interviews, and depositions and manages, organizes, and maintains documents in paper or electronic filing systems. The position may require performing other related duties as assigned to meet the needs of the business.

Education and Experience Information:
The minimum educational requirement for the position is a high school diploma or general education degree (GED). However, an associate's degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate, or a bachelor's degree is preferred. The candidate should be bilingual in English and Spanish.

A minimum of 2 years of experience as an administrative assistant, preferably in a law firm or corporate legal department, legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal, is required. Experience in personal injury, workers' compensation, premises liability, or other injury-related practice areas is preferred.

The candidate must possess the ability to multi-task, prioritize, handle a fast-paced environment, and manage workload with a positive attitude and minimal supervision. Great written and communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in scheduling depositions, mediation, and hearings. The candidate should have applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules, and procedures.

The role requires someone who is highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong writing and communication skills, along with attention to detail, are crucial. Extensive computer and database expertise, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and typing no less than 35 words per minute, is required. This position is not eligible for remote work.
