Summary:

- The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. (DFPS) is seeking a Legal Assistant II to join their team of over 12,000 workers who are dedicated to protecting children, elderly, and people with disabilities from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
- This position reports to the Associate General Counsel for Regional Litigation and provides paralegal and administrative support for the Regional Litigation units statewide.
- The Legal Assistant II will be responsible for coordinating litigation matters, organizing and maintaining case files and reports, and drafting legal documents.
- This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a salary range of $3, - $5, per month.
- The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least three years of legal assistance, paralegal, legal secretarial, or DFPS experience.

Responsibilities:

- Provide paralegal and administrative support to the Office of the General Counsel, specifically the Regional Litigation units statewide.
- Coordinate litigation matters, including evidence, exhibits, affidavits, discovery, and court records.
- Prepare legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings, motions, and orders, under the direction of departmental attorneys.
- Interact professionally with various stakeholders, including Department staff, private attorneys, judges, and the general public.
- Compile and maintain data and files as required by legal staff.
- Prioritize legal deadlines and develop and maintain tracking systems.
- Organize and maintain legal files and records.
- Operate a personal computer and other office equipment.
- Work in a stressful environment and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three years of full-time legal assistance, paralegal, legal secretarial, or DFPS experience.
- Knowledge of legal practices and terminology, legal civil procedure, and general office practices and administrative procedures.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in using a personal computer and other office equipment.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work in a stressful environment and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Salary Information:

- Salary Group: TEXAS-B-18
- Salary Range: $3, - $5, per month
