Job Title: Business Development Specialist
Job Responsibilities:
The Business Development Specialist (BDS) plays a crucial role in supporting and executing business development initiatives for various practice divisions within the law firm. The primary responsibilities of the BDS include:
- Collaborating with Business Development Managers (BDMs), the Director of Business Development, and the Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer to support business development projects.
- Building a comprehensive understanding of the firm's services, attorney experience, and available marketing tactics.
- Ensuring the execution of business development activities, such as tracking pipelines, collecting attorney experience, preparing pitch materials, and facilitating follow-up on assignments.
- Serving as a secondary business development and marketing liaison to assigned practice divisions and subgroups.
- Collaborating with BDMs, Practice Development Coordinators (PDCs), and other leaders to prepare agendas for various meetings, including those for divisions, sub-groups, and client teams.
- Preparing, tracking, and reporting on business development-related activities.
- Supporting responses to proposals and pitches by coordinating with BDMs, the Proposal Manager, and other staff members to prepare responses and collect necessary approvals.
- Collecting and preparing content for rankings and directories, as well as related materials.
- Collecting and tracking experience data and business development activities using available technology tools.
- Coordinating across the business development team and throughout the marketing department.
- Tracking and coordinating results of various marketing and business development activities, including events, seminars, sponsorships, social media, digital content, and content marketing.
- Identifying PR and profile-raising opportunities for the Communications team.
- Working with the BDM and Communications team to implement public relations programs for the firm and practice areas.
- Assisting in managing online content and presence associated with practice groups, subgroups, and attorneys.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of marketing or business development experience, preferably within a professional services firm.
- A proven track record of attention to detail, excellence in client service, and professional writing capabilities.
- Advanced level computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Experience working in a law firm is preferred.
- Experience with data management, event management, and content marketing is advantageous.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
The Business Development Specialist operates in a professional office environment, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The work environment is fast-paced and may require additional hours to complete tasks. The physical demands include the ability to talk and hear, sit and use hands and fingers, stand, walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Vision abilities required include close vision.
Salary Information:
The salary range for the Business Development Specialist role is $60,000 to $70,000. This range is based on various factors, including experience, skills, qualifications, and location. The range is an initial approximation at the time of posting and may vary based on the individual’s unique qualifications and experience.
