Job Title: Competitive Intelligence Analyst
Job Responsibilities:
The Competitive Intelligence Analyst at the law firm is responsible for providing lawyers and other business professionals with vital company, competitor, and market information and analysis. This role aids in the development of new business and helps achieve strategic goals and tactical objectives. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and presenting research and competitive intelligence on key clients, prospects, competitors, industries, and trends.
- Monitoring alerts and news activity to proactively support industry and client initiatives and the development of best practices.
- Connecting data from the firm's intranet and experience databases with external market developments to identify opportunities.
- Collaborating with other Competitive Intelligence and Research team members for more complex requests and with other firmwide administrative departments.
- Providing backup support to the Research Services team to assist with general, legal, and company research.
- Working closely with practice groups and industry teams to build expertise and foster strong collaborative working relationships.
- Performing other responsibilities as assigned and working additional hours as needed to fulfill job requirements.
Education and Experience:
Candidates for the Competitive Intelligence Analyst role should have the following qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of competitive intelligence experience in a corporate or legal environment.
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required, with an MSLIS or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of legal and business databases such as Lexis, Westlaw, ALM Compass, Bloomberg Law, Courthouse News, D&B Hoovers, FitchConnect, Intelligize, LexMachina, Leopard Solutions, MergerMarket, NewsDesk, Pitchbook, S&P Capital IQ, TLOxp, and Zoominfo.
- Strong research and writing skills, including critical thinking about research tools, conducting cost-effective and efficient research, compiling research results, summarizing data, and clearly communicating methodology and results.
- A willingness to learn and stay current on effective research methods and strategies.
- Ability to work independently and balance competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly communicative team player with strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
Salary Information:
The salary range for the Competitive Intelligence Analyst role is $90,000 - $110,000. Actual salaries depend on a candidate's geographic location, relevant experience, and skillset. The salary range is one component of the law firm's total compensation package for employees, which includes annual discretionary bonuses based on performance and profit-sharing contributions based on eligibility and firm profitability.
