Job Title: Patent Agent

Job Responsibilities:
- Draft patent applications and prosecute patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Review and analyze patents and technical documents for case preparation and evaluate the patentability of innovations.
- Prepare, draft, and file patent applications and registrations.
- Conduct patentability, invalidity, freedom to operate (FTO), and evidence of use searches.
- Track the patent application process from start to finish.
- Review documents to determine responsiveness to subpoenas and discovery requests.
- Maintain and manage documentation processes related to patent laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Assist with intellectual property infringement litigations when necessary.
- Participate in interviews with examiners at the USPTO.
- Stay informed about legal developments in the intellectual property field.
- Engage in special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Information:
- 1-3 years of experience in relevant fields.
- Strong technical background in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or physics.
- Experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications is required.
- Preferred experience in litigation and/or post-grant, and/or large law firm experience.
- Must have an excellent academic record, superior organizational and communication skills (written and oral).
- Demonstrated commitment to exceptional client service with a creative and entrepreneurial approach to intellectual property.
- Registration with the USPTO is required.
- A Bachelor's degree is required.

Salary Information:
- The position may be filled in the District of Columbia or Illinois.
- Base salary range for Illinois: $144,000 – $217,000 per year.
- Base salary range for the District of Columbia: $158,000 – $236,000 per year.
- Additional compensation may include bonus opportunities and an exceptional benefits package.
