Job Title: Conflicts Analyst
Job Responsibilities:
As a Conflicts Analyst in the Office of the General Counsel Department, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the law firm's critical risk management functions. Your responsibilities will include:
- Analyzing information and interpreting search results to identify potential conflicts of interest.
- Conducting research using both internal and external sources to gather pertinent information.
- Composing detailed conflict-of-interest reports.
- Reviewing and analyzing new client/matter requests for compliance with the firm's business acceptance protocols.
- Conducting first-round reviews of conflict search results and identifying potential conflict issues.
- Providing conflict-of-interest reports to Conflict Counsel and/or requesting attorneys.
- Supporting the Office of the General Counsel, Conflict Counsel, and responsible attorneys in the conflict resolution process.
- Reviewing complex search results as part of the conflict search and reporting process.
- Performing searches in external and internal databases for relevant information on prospective clients and other parties.
- Summarizing relevant data from conflict reports and discussing findings with Conflict Counsel and requesting attorneys.
- Applying directives from managers, Conflict Counsel, and the Office of the General Counsel for processing new business matters and executing conflicts-of-interest searches.
- Identifying parties involved in various legal transactions across major areas of law and defining relationships within the conflicts-of-interest system.
- Determining when to escalate issues to the Conflicts Counsel or the General Counsel’s Office.
Additional Functions:
- Undertaking special projects as assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
Education:
- A Bachelor's degree is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience:
- Experience with conflicts-of-interest and new business intake or related risk management/loss prevention processes in a law firm environment is required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of conflicts-of-interest and new business intake principles, with the ability to utilize and interpret data from research and workflow tools such as Conflicts Management, Intapp Open, Elite, and Elegrity.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong service orientation.
- Strong evaluative and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- This position operates in a clerical, office setting with standard office equipment like computers and photocopiers.
- Sedentary work with exertion of physical strength to lift up to 10 pounds, involving mostly sitting, with occasional walking and standing.
- Requires close visual acuity for preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
Salary Information:
The salary ranges for this position vary by location and are influenced by factors such as experience, education, and market demands. The estimated salary ranges are:
- Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Washington, .: $60,000 to $80,000
- Atlantic City, Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, Morristown, Princeton, Seattle: $55,000 to $70,000
