Job Title: Manager, US Events

Job Responsibilities:
The Manager, US Events at the law firm is tasked with overseeing the development of office-wide event support teams, coordinating cross-departmentally with various departments to ensure effective tracking, reporting, training, and work assignment. This role involves planning and organizing event logistics for both client-facing and internal program events, which include receptions, dinners, seminars, conferences, sponsorships, and other social events. Key responsibilities include:

- Coordinating with Firm Administration, Office Teams, and Firmwide Events Team colleagues to develop an office-wide event support process and staffing model for events at internal and external venues.
- Overseeing US-based office support teams, including scheduling and training, to ensure on-site event oversight and staffing.
- Onboarding and training US-based contract and full-time event team members in collaboration with the Director, Firmwide Events, and Manager-Event & Event Operations.
- Assigning and overseeing project work with direct reports.
- Managing event logistics in partnership with event hosts/stakeholders from the firm’s practice groups, industries, initiatives, offices, and departments. This includes venue and vendor sourcing, contracting, vendor/venue oversight, food and beverage planning, audio-visual needs, setup requirements and flow, entertainment, décor, ground transportation, onsite staffing, and registration/check-in.
- Creating and maintaining event-specific budget documents and ensuring timely processing of payments to venues and vendors.
- Performing event administrative duties, such as updating event tracking documents and calendars, post-event reporting and filing, creating name tags, and requesting signage.
- Leading by example, establishing clear expectations, setting direction and priorities, balancing work levels among staff, resolving internal staff issues, keeping staff informed, building effective teams, and delegating appropriately.
- Facilitating staff development by providing opportunities and support, providing timely feedback on work product, and regularly coaching, evaluating, and recognizing staff performance and accomplishments.
- Establishing and adhering to the department budget while seeking opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce expenses by streamlining operations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Manager, US Events directly supervises non-supervisory employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the firm's policies and applicable laws. This includes interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. The manager is also responsible for overseeing full-time employees, contract employees, and third-party personnel, working closely with Firmwide event team colleagues on projects and staffing.

Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience in event, meeting, or conference planning, preferably in-house in a law firm, professional services firm, or other corporate setting, or at an external agency focusing on corporate events, meetings, and conferences.
- A minimum of 5 years in a management, supervisory, or leadership role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Results-oriented with the ability to effectively prioritize and balance competing demands.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; a proactive self-starter; strategic thinker.
- Ability to work independently as well as manage projects and assignments in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to adapt to change and balance competing demands.
- Ability to interface with clients, vendors, and all levels of personnel within the organization.
- Ability to prepare and manage to an approved budget.
