Job Title: Lateral Integration Manager
Job Responsibilities:
The Lateral Integration Manager is responsible for overseeing the integration of new hires within the law firm, collaborating with leadership to develop and execute strategic integration strategies. This role involves leading the integration program and facilitating relationship-building within the firm. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with leadership, including the Senior Director, Legal Development, Integration & Tech Training, and administrative departments to manage and execute integration strategies for new lateral hires.
- Developing and coordinating support strategies based on the strategic opportunities for each incoming lateral partner in concert with the relevant Practice Group Leaders.
- Ensuring seamless transition and onboarding by working closely with Recruiting and local administration.
- Serving as a liaison with Business Development, Marketing, and Communications teams for integration-related activities that support the attorney’s brand and business plan efforts.
- Acting as the internal point of contact for new lateral hires, coordinating necessary resources across multiple administrative teams.
- Facilitating connection opportunities across the firm to support lateral hires in building relationships.
- Planning for day-one readiness and book of business transition plans for each new lateral partner.
- Tracking integration progress against lateral and team business plans and identifying ways to maximize success; reviewing data with lateral partners and reporting on progress to leadership.
- Managing the partner experience in the firm’s two-year integration program.
- Serving as a counselor and coach for new partners within the firm’s support structure.
- Designing and implementing partner education programs and orientations.
- Providing ongoing communications to new partners and stakeholders.
- Researching and analyzing trends related to lateral partner activity in the market.
- Adhering to budgets and improving efficiency by streamlining operations.
- Traveling to various firm offices as needed.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or human resources or equivalent professional experience is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of recruiting or client development experience is preferred, ideally within a law firm or other professional service firm.
- A background in project management or operations is beneficial, with Project Management Certification (PMP) being helpful.
Salary Information:
The national average salary range for the Lateral Integration Manager role is $87,000 - $129,000. The starting salary will be determined based on location, qualifications, and experience.
Legal Terminology and Requirements:
The position requires the ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost discretion, ensuring strict confidentiality by adhering to all privacy policies, legal requirements, and organizational standards. The role also involves effectively managing time while maintaining a strong sense of urgency and demonstrating the ability to execute tasks efficiently within a short timeframe when needed. Additionally, proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel is essential, along with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software and programs. The role demands strong teamwork skills, budgeting for and managing expenses related to integration efforts, and at least 25% travel.
