Job Title: Billing Assistant - Billing & Collection Services (BCS)
Job Responsibilities:
The Billing Assistant is tasked with handling all aspects of drafting and finalizing client bills. This role involves:
- Collaborating with Client Services Lawyers (CSL), legal secretaries, and other personnel to ensure timely billing and collection processes are adhered to.
- Monitoring unbilled time to ensure that all billable hours are accounted for and invoiced appropriately.
- Generating proformas and draft bills, ensuring that these conform to established billing arrangements and agreements.
- Performing manual calculations as necessary to ensure accuracy in billing.
- Preparing write-up/write-down forms and obtaining necessary approvals for any billing adjustments.
- Preparing bill reports, fee summaries, and disbursement summaries to provide a clear and detailed account of billing activities.
- Preparing and finalizing bills for clients, ensuring that all information is accurate and complete.
- Communicating directly with clients to resolve any billing or collection issues that may arise, ensuring a smooth and professional interaction.
- Collaborating with Client Services Lawyers on engagement letters and other documentation related to billing and collections.
- Maintaining organized client billing folders to ensure easy access and reference to billing information.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor's degree is preferred for candidates applying for the position of Billing Assistant.
- Experience with billing software such as Elite or Aderant is preferred, indicating a familiarity with industry-standard billing practices and tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required, demonstrating the ability to manage and manipulate billing data effectively.
