Job Title: Business Development Manager - Transactional
Job Responsibilities:
The Business Development Manager for Transactional Practices at the law firm plays a pivotal role in supporting the Director of Business Development and collaborating with the global Marketing and Business Development Department. The primary responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Directors of Business Development in implementing new initiatives using project management tools and collaborating across the business development team.
- Collaborating with other Business Services Departments such as Recruiting, Pricing, and Pro Bono on cross-team projects.
- Adopting change management strategies and maintaining key data to increase attorney adoption of Foundation, the firm's experience management system.
- Driving working groups and special projects to ensure that the firm is optimally positioned to grow market share.
- Conducting strategic research on potential clients, competitors, and practice developments to identify business trends and opportunities.
- Supporting all components involving Practice Group and Go-To-Market or industry meetings, including agenda setting and presentations.
- Providing ad hoc support on positioning the firm's strengths in the marketplace through thought leadership, rankings/awards, and pitches and proposals.
- Coordinating firm-hosted business development events and working closely with participating lawyers and Marketing Department colleagues.
- Providing team coverage during periods of high volume across functional areas.
- Creating, troubleshooting, and implementing new processes and procedures with the Directors of Business Development.
- Drafting and overseeing project plans with clearly defined deliverables and resource requirements.
- Monitoring the budget and providing support as needed.
- Supporting process-oriented projects for the firm’s systems including BDHub (CRM), Foundation, and the website.
Education and Experience Information:
The ideal candidate for the Business Development Manager role must possess:
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of experience in a business development or marketing role.
- Excellent project management skills with keen attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and execute multiple ongoing tasks.
- An ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Superior presentation, writing, and verbal communication skills.
- Well-developed Microsoft Office skills, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, and proficiency in ,000

- Los Angeles: $135,000 - $180,000
- Chicago: $130,000 - $160,000
The salary offer will be contingent upon various factors, including relevant experience, internal equity, market data, job location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
