Job Title: Patent Agent

Job Responsibilities:
- Draft and prosecute patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Review and analyze patents and technical documents as part of case preparation and evaluate the patentability of innovations.
- Prepare, draft, and file patent applications and registrations.
- Conduct searches for patentability, invalidity, freedom to operate (FTO), and evidence of use.
- Track the patent application process from initiation to completion.
- Review documents to determine responsiveness to various subpoenas and discovery requests.
- Maintain and manage documentation processes related to patent laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Assist with intellectual property infringement litigations as needed.
- Participate in interviews with examiners at the . Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Stay updated with legal developments in the intellectual property field.
- Handle special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Information:
- 1-3 years of experience required.
- Strong technical background in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or physics.
- Experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications is required.
- Preferred experience includes some litigation and/or post-grant experience, and/or large law firm experience.
- Candidates must have an excellent academic record and superior organizational and communication skills (both written and oral).
- Demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional client service with a creative and entrepreneurial perspective on intellectual property.

Minimum Education:
- Registration with the USPTO is required.
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.

Salary Information:
- This position may be filled in the District of Columbia or Illinois.
- Salary ranges for Illinois: $144,000–$217,000 per year.
- Salary ranges for the District of Columbia: $158,000–$236,000 per year.
- An individual's actual compensation will depend on qualifications and experience.
