Job Title: Assistant District Attorney (Lateral Hiring)

Job Responsibilities:
The Assistant District Attorney (ADA) in the Investigations Division is responsible for managing a diverse and active criminal case docket. This includes preparing and filing pleadings, handling discovery, briefing and arguing motions, conducting witness preparation, and presenting cases to the grand jury. The ADA evaluates cases to formulate and negotiate appropriate dispositions, conferences cases with defense counsel and judges, and makes court appearances for all phases of litigation. Investigating cases involves using various types of legal processes such as subpoenas, court orders, search warrants, and eavesdropping warrants. The ADA collaborates with the Nassau County Police Department and other local, state, and federal law enforcement partners to effectively prosecute cases.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must have passed the New York State Bar Examination and be admitted to practice law in New York State, maintaining good standing prior to submitting an application. Residency in New York State is required as of the effective date of employment. A minimum of five years of experience in handling all aspects of criminal investigation and prosecution is necessary, including significant experience with long-term investigations, grand jury, and felony jury trials. Experience in drafting eavesdropping and . search warrants is preferred. Candidates should possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, along with strong organizational and analytical abilities. A two-year commitment to employment at the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office (NCDAO) is required.

Salary Information:
The annual salary for the Assistant District Attorney position ranges from $93,000 to $163,000.
