Legal Assistant - General Counsel
Job Responsibilities
The Legal Assistant for the General Counsel plays a crucial role in supporting daily office operations within the department. Key responsibilities include drafting routine correspondence, maintaining and updating departmental documents and spreadsheets, and processing both incoming and outgoing mail. The role involves ordering office supplies and establishing and maintaining the department's filing system, including an online contract management system. The assistant coordinates committee meeting logistics, attends meetings, and prepares meeting minutes. Additional duties include assisting paralegals and attorneys with requests for records, routine legal processes, and handling requests for subrogation information.
Education and Experience Information
Required:
- An associate degree in legal studies or equivalent work experience is mandatory.
- The candidate must be a . citizen capable of receiving a favorable Interim and adjudicated final Department of Defense (DoD) background investigation.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a corporate law department, law firm, or compliance is required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is essential.
Preferred:
- A bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Experience with legal tracking and reporting tools is advantageous.
- Familiarity with healthcare or Managed Care is beneficial.
- Knowledge of Military organization and experience with Contract Lifecycle Management Systems is preferred.
Salary Information
The salary for this full-time, remote position ranges from $59,000 to $62,000 per year.
