Job Title: HR Generalist
Job Responsibilities:
The HR Generalist position at the law firm involves partnering with senior leadership to provide strategic guidance on various human resources functions and initiatives. Key responsibilities include:
- Partnering with senior leadership to offer global, strategic guidance on employee relations, talent development, succession planning, performance management, learning, and development, and other HR strategic initiatives.
- Engaging directly with leaders to drive business results, improve working relationships, strengthen morale, and increase employee engagement and productivity.
- Managing and resolving complex employee relations issues through effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
- Providing day-to-day performance management guidance to managers, including coaching, counseling, career development, and disciplinary actions.
- Developing process improvements within the human resources department to enhance efficiencies and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Researching and staying informed about federal and state laws, updating and implementing firm policies and procedures to ensure compliance, and documenting changes.
- Proactively reviewing project requests to identify actionable steps, key resources, and potential roadblocks, and communicating appropriately with HR management and stakeholders.
- Organizing and preparing clear, concise, and accurate reports, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, and other correspondence as needed.
- Identifying and recommending solutions regarding human resources policies and practices to support departmental goals.
- Preparing internal employee communications regarding company policies and programs.
- Developing standard and ad hoc reports related to HR metrics, programs, and processes, and analyzing data to identify trends and recommend changes for improvements.
- Leading project and team meetings to advance department project tasks, updating project logs, and facilitating follow-up efforts related to project tasks.
- Conducting system and data audit activities, raising issues to management, and recommending solutions, as well as testing and validating HR system application updates.
- Conducting annual FLSA tests on positions to determine appropriate exemption status.
- Reviewing EEO-1 reports and providing recommended changes to HR management.
- Assisting in developing, implementing, updating, and auditing HR and recruiting processes and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and developing and maintaining process documentation as needed.
- Developing and maintaining sourcing relationships and activities to ensure a strong staff candidate flow and conducting full-cycle recruiting.
- Making recommendations to hiring managers on qualified staff candidates to be considered.
- Providing reports that indicate trends of staff candidate availability based on supply and demand.
- Acting as a liaison between the Human Resources department and other departments for projects and requests as needed.

Reporting Relationship:
The HR Generalist reports directly to the Senior Manager of Human Resources.

Education and Experience Information:
The HR Generalist should possess the following qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Management or a related field is required. Studies in Human Resources and PHR/SHRM-CP Certification are highly desired but not required.
- A minimum of five (5) or more years of relevant work experience in a human resources environment is necessary.
- The HR Generalist should possess excellent written and oral communication skills with a strong ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external clients of the law firm.
- The ability to multi-task is essential, as is the ability to appropriately prioritize the workload. The candidate must work well independently as well as collaboratively with internal HR team members and other departments.
- The candidate must be highly analytical, with the ability to identify issues and recommend solutions.
- Proficiency in advanced Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required, as well as proficiency with using HR information systems. Prior experience using Workday and Smartsheet is preferred.
Physical Demands:
- The position requires the ability to move around the office up to 15% of the time to make copies, fax, file, etc.
- The role remains stationary at least 85% of the time.
- The position operates computers and other office productivity machines (., fax machine, copier, printer, etc.) on a regular basis.
- Occasionally, the role requires moving documents or files weighing up to 15 lbs.
- Constant communication and exchange of information with the law firm attorneys, clients, and staff are required.
- The position must be able to inspect and observe information on a computer screen at least 80% of the time.
Working Conditions:
The working environment is an office setting.
