Job Title: Director of Marketing and Engagement
Job Responsibilities:
The Director of Marketing and Engagement is a key leadership role within the law firm, working closely with the Chief Business Development and Marketing Officer (CBDMO) to guide and manage the Marketing team. This role is responsible for the strategic direction and oversight of firmwide and practice-specific marketing campaigns and efforts aimed at enhancing client and prospect engagement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the development and execution of the firm’s marketing technology, content, campaign strategies, and events to support revenue growth objectives.
- Collaborating with the Marketing and Business Development (MBD) Department leadership and MBD practice liaisons to create and implement measurable plans and campaigns that drive brand awareness, client engagement, and revenue growth.
- Overseeing brand management and development, including the implementation and execution of effective marketing and promotional strategies aligned with established priorities and plans.
- Managing a high-performing team and overseeing key marketing programs and operations to ensure alignment with the firm’s business development goals.
- Maintaining professionalism and strict confidentiality in all client and firm matters.
The role also involves developing and implementing a multi-year strategic roadmap aligned with the firm’s business goals, identifying opportunities for innovation and digital transformation, benchmarking the firm’s marketing infrastructure against industry best practices, and managing the department budget strategy.
The Director is tasked with establishing a cohesive technology vision and architecture, directing the evaluation and integration of enterprise marketing platforms, developing a data strategy for campaign optimization, managing technology vendor relationships, and ensuring compliance with governance and security standards.
Content, campaign, and brand management responsibilities include acting as a brand steward, refining and enforcing brand strategy, driving the development and implementation of marketing plans and campaigns, analyzing marketing data to develop actionable insights, collaborating with business development teams, and overseeing social media and employee engagement strategies.
Event strategy and campaign management duties involve optimizing events and sponsorship investments, establishing a firm-wide events strategy, developing a framework for measuring marketing ROI, and introducing innovative ideas related to digital marketing and emerging technologies.
The role also encompasses team leadership and development, including leading a multidisciplinary team, defining professional development goals, and providing coaching and career path planning.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Director directly supervises a team of three, with overall responsibility for a team of more than twelve. This includes mentoring, training, developing employees, planning, assigning and directing work, evaluating performance, resolving problems, and making recommendations for hiring, budgeting, promotion, and compensation.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or a related field is required.
- Ten or more years of marketing management experience with a strong background in brand development and management, marketing communications, and digital technology.
- Advanced knowledge of marketing technology platforms, including CRM, CMS, BI tools, and marketing automation software.
- Strong leadership, project management, and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to manage multiple initiatives and projects, handle complex relationships, and develop employees.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with courtesy and diplomacy.
The role requires quality and results-oriented skills, a proactive mindset with excellent troubleshooting, problem resolution, and follow-through skills, and the ability to identify and analyze complex marketing issues and recommend solutions. The candidate should understand business implications of decisions and demonstrate knowledge of market and competition.
Additional skills include exceptional organizational skills, a high degree of initiative and critical-thinking skills, the ability to work effectively under remote management, expertise in financial management and budget planning, and a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
The ability to occasionally retrieve and distribute marketing-related materials weighing up to 20 pounds is also required. Work may require more than hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
Salary Information:
In the New York office, the annualized salary range for this position is $217,000 to $347,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
