Job Title: Business Development and Marketing Manager - Client Teams
Job Responsibilities:
The Business Development and Marketing Manager - Client Teams at the law firm is primarily responsible for supporting the Global Client Team program, a strategic priority of the firm. This role entails leading business development and marketing efforts for key client accounts and supporting program infrastructure. The manager will work across practices and offices to ensure a consistent client-focused approach at both global and regional levels. Additional responsibilities include supporting relevant global industry groups and other initiatives aligned with the firm's strategic plan. This position requires close collaboration with the Global Business Development and Marketing team.
Essential Functions:
1. Business Plans & Infrastructure:
- Develops and implements key initiatives, including business plans, client satisfaction reviews, lawyer training, and other business development efforts.
- Engages in research, analysis, and competitive intelligence-gathering for strategic planning, competitive firm positioning, and business development activities.
- Provides direction and deployment support for various technology tools and related databases for assigned client teams.
- Cultivates client-facing relationships with peer-level administrative commercial contacts at key clients to deepen and broaden the law firm-client relationship.
- Collaborates with department leadership and client team leaders to develop annual budgets, specifying key strategic and tactical objectives to achieve annual goals.
- Manages day-to-day responsibilities to ensure projects align with the firm's overall strategic efforts, maintaining exceptional client service.
- Manages communications and interactions with client teams, including periodic meetings, reports, analysis, and progress monitoring.
- Supports the onboarding and integration of lateral lawyers.
2. Business Development & Profile Raising Initiatives:
- Manages and implements key business development initiatives, including client targeting, campaigns, client satisfaction, seminars, and networking events.
- Engages in research, analysis, and competitive intelligence-gathering.
- Supports the collection and maintenance of CRM-based contact and other data for marketing planning and mailing lists.
- Coordinates business development training for lawyers.
3. Pitches, Proposals & Marketing Materials:
- Manages and supports responses to RFPs, pitches, presentations, and other opportunities through the development of written proposal and presentation materials for assigned client teams.
- Liaises with other industry and product groups, departments, practices, and/or country initiatives as needed.
4. Local Office Support:
- Provides support for seminars, sponsorships, and other events and initiatives pursued by the firm in relevant local offices.
- Supports the onboarding and integration of lateral lawyers when relevant.
5. Other:
- Assists with supervising and training junior team members.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required to meet firm goals and objectives.
Education and Experience Information:
- Education/Training/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
- Professional Experience:
- A minimum of six years of demonstrated success in a marketing, research, management, and/or communications-related field.
- Experience in professional services (., law, accounting, or consulting) or in a comparable position in the corporate, trade association, or academic sectors is preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with MS Office suite.
- Proficiency in scheduling and participating in video conferences in a professional setting.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of the firm and outside vendors.
- Assertive, self-motivated, and able to operate with limited day-to-day direction.

- Manages processes for direct reports concerning performance appraisals, annual compensation, goal setting, and performance counseling.

- Conducts analysis of staffing levels and participates in the recruitment process.
- Able to determine and implement change processes to improve workflow efficiencies.
- Process- and service-oriented with strong leadership and project management skills.

Physical Requirements:
- May require travel to other offices as needed.
Salary Information:
The typical pay scale for this position in Chicago is between $135,600 and $179,300, in New York between $147,300 and $194,800, in Charlotte between $134,300 and $177,600, and in Washington, . between $141,900 and $187,700. However, the actual wage or salary may vary if the candidate’s education, experience, skills, and internal pay alignment differ from those specified.
