Job Responsibilities:
The Paralegal position involves managing all administrative tasks related to legal cases. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and formatting memoranda, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Independently drafting standard routine pleadings, correspondence, and other documents.
- Reading and electronically organizing emails.
- Filing pleadings electronically with courts and managing mail service of documents and correspondence.
- Updating status and steps in law firm and/or client systems.
- Requesting fee approvals in client systems and billing time entries in the law firm system.
- Maintaining superior public relations with business associates and clients.
- Scheduling appointments, meetings, depositions, and other meetings for attorneys.
- Collaborating closely with other staff members in a team-oriented manner.
- Working with paralegals and lawyers to maintain structured and comprehensive file indexes and case files.
- Proofreading legal documents as required and attaching exhibits properly.
- Providing support to the Legal Team in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment.
- Providing service and client status updates, following up on outstanding documents or services, and coordinating with title contacts to complete tasks.
- Assisting with portfolio/inventory management.
- Managing and organizing production of documents and identifying privileged documents.
- Generating reports and following up on outstanding tasks.
- Performing other duties and responsibilities as needed.
Education and Experience Information:
- Minimum requirement of a High School diploma or equivalent; secondary education or some college is a plus.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of Litigation Paralegal experience or general knowledge of litigation/foreclosure proceedings.
- Being a Certified Paralegal is a plus.
- Knowledge of Real Estate and/or Creditors’ Rights is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have a positive attitude and be a team player.
- Provide legal support to attorneys and the team.
- Manage a portfolio of files for clients.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with clerks, judges, and defense attorneys.
- Must provide excellent customer service both internally and externally.
- Must be a self-starter with good time-management abilities.
- Balance team and individual responsibilities and contribute to building a positive team spirit.
- Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and look for ways to improve and promote quality.
- Must possess exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and adapt to change.
- Ability to read and write for proofreading and editing purposes.
- High-level proficiency in the MS Office suite.
- Proficiency in internet research activities.
- Familiarity with case and document management software.
- Good understanding of the policies and procedures of law.
- Ability to transcribe correspondence and reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to operate a computer, scanner, photocopier, and telephone.
- Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands for this role include frequently sitting, talking, or hearing. Occasionally, the employee is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
The work environment is characterized by normal office working conditions with a noise level ranging from quiet to moderate.
Salary Information:
The position offers a comprehensive compensation package, including a salary that ranges from $45,000 to $70,000 annually, commensurate with experience and accomplishments.
