Job Title: Attorney (Employment Law - Merit Systems Protection Board)
Job Responsibilities:
- Handle a substantial caseload before Administrative Law Judges and the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB).
- Provide legal advice and representation on issues such as employee discipline, Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), Wounded Warrior Leave, and other military-related matters.
- Offer MSPB and USERRA training and representation to clients nationwide.
- Conduct legal research and prepare written materials for representation and advising postal management officials.
- Participate in conferences to represent or advise Postal Service officials.
- Advise postal management officials and represent the Postal Service in legal matters involving external parties.
- Draft responses to inquiries from Congress, government agencies, and the public.
- Prepare opinions, memoranda, decisions, regulations, testimonies, or formal filings in proceedings involving the Postal Service.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctorate from an American Bar Association accredited law school is required.
- Must be a current member in good standing of a state, territory of the United States, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico Bar Association.
- At least three years of experience primarily practicing employment law in federal courts or before the EEOC or MSPB.
- Current litigation experience, including discovery, drafting and filing motions, mediation, and participation in trials and hearings, is required.
- Experience in handling MSPB matters should be documented in the applicant's resume.
- Knowledge of employment law, including Title VII, ADA, ADAAA, FMLA, ADEA, and FLSA, is also required.
- One year of the experience requirement may be fulfilled through a judicial clerkship if completed by the time of hire.
Salary Information:
- The salary range for this position is $129,280 - $196,180 per year.
- Salary will be based on previous experience and current postal pay policies.
