Job Description:
The Senior Paralegal will be an integral part of the Legal Professional and Paralegal team at Latham & Watkins. They will provide expertise and support to the attorneys in the Litigation & Trial department, while managing all aspects of litigation case preparation. This includes document review, case file organization, and trial preparation. The successful candidate will have knowledge of security-related practices and documentation, state and federal level filing requirements, document management and productions, fact and expert witness preparation, Bluebooking, and cite checking. They will also have proficient knowledge of applications typically used in a legal office environment, such as billing software and databases, legal research tools, litigation software, and internet searching skills.
Responsibilities:
- Work with, support, and/or manage multiple litigation and trial teams simultaneously
- Coordinate and assist in the discovery process, including gathering, reviewing, and analyzing documents for production
- Communicate with eDiscovery support teams regarding the development and enforcement procedures for litigation holds and other issues related to electronically stored information
- Assist with the preparation of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and exhibits
- Assist in preparing witnesses for deposition, internal client investigations, and client interviews
- Protect and maintain any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program or signed declaration if located in a California office
- Minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience with a focus on complex litigation cases
- Knowledge of MS Office applications, specifically MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook
