Job Title: PIP Litigation Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare various legal documents such as pleadings, motions, affidavits, complaints, and legal memoranda.
- E-file all court documents in both state and federal courts.
- Communicate effectively with clients, court personnel, counsel, and other relevant parties.
- Conduct legal research and factual investigations to support case development.
- Prepare discovery documents, interrogatories, and provide responses.
- Draft and serve summons to involved parties.
- Coordinate and summarize depositions for attorney review.
- Prepare trial binders and exhibits for court proceedings.
- Draft pleadings, motions, and appellate documents, and ensure they are filed with the court.
- Perform administrative duties including calendaring hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and managing logistics.
- Maintain indexes for pleadings and discovery documents.
- Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices for trial.
- Assist attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests.
- Gather relevant information from a variety of sources to support legal strategies.
- Act as a liaison between trial teams and internal/external third parties.
- Prepare witnesses for trial.
- Assist in negotiating and finalizing case settlements.
- Perform other tasks as requested by the attorney to ensure smooth case management.
Education and Experience Information:
- An associate degree, certificate, or equivalent work experience is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of litigation experience is required.
- Completion of a nationally accredited paralegal program is preferred.
- Experience in Personal Injury, Workers' Compensation, Premises Liability, or other injury-related practice areas is preferred.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage workload independently with a positive attitude.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Proficiency in calendaring depositions, mediations, and hearings.
- Knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules, procedures, and practices.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Extensive computer and database expertise, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and a typing speed of no less than 35 words per minute.
