Title: Employee Benefits and Employment Law Counsel at **Members Only**
Summary: **Members Only**, a leading insurance company, is seeking a Counsel for their in-house Employment Law department. This role will primarily focus on providing legal advice and support for employee benefits, including retirement plans, health and welfare benefits, and other programs. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of relevant experience and a strong understanding of employee benefits and general employment law. This is a hybrid role, with the candidate expected to work three days onsite in either Chevy Chase, MD or Manhattan, NY.

Salary: Annual salary ranges from $151,700 to $235,750, with the final offer depending on various factors such as experience, education, and location.
Location: Hybrid role with three days onsite in Chevy Chase, MD or Manhattan, NY.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide legal support for the design, implementation, and administration of employee benefit plans.
- Advise on fiduciary duties, plan governance, and dispute resolution.
- Stay updated on developments in employee benefits law and interpret their impact on clients and internal policies.
- Represent clients in regulatory inquiries, audits, and litigation related to employee benefits.
- Collaborate with HR, finance, and other departments to ensure compliance with legal requirements and organizational goals.
- Conduct training and provide guidance on employee benefits laws and best practices.
- Support the entire Employment Law team by providing advice on federal, state, and local employment laws.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to practice law in at least one . jurisdiction.
- 5+ years of experience in employee benefits law and employment law.
- Deep knowledge of ERISA, Internal Revenue Code, Affordable Care Act, and other relevant legislation.
- Experience with retirement plan design, health and welfare benefits, and executive compensation.
- Familiarity with EEO, wage and hour, and other employment law issues.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
- Proven track record of managing complex legal matters and providing sound advice.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in providing general employment law advice.
- Insurance industry experience is a plus.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
