Job Responsibilities:
The legal assistant at the law firm is responsible for a variety of administrative and clerical duties that are essential to the functioning of the firm. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing administrative assistance for attorneys.
- Managing billing and utilizing timekeeping and billing software, with a preference for those experienced in Timeslips.
- Handling clerical tasks such as filing, managing correspondence, processing intake, scheduling, and maintaining case files.
- Accessing online court docket databases for information retrieval.
- Editing and filing legal documents as required.
- Answering the telephone and receiving clients, ensuring a professional and welcoming demeanor.
- Performing tasks such as typing, photocopying, scanning, and faxing.
- Making travel arrangements for attorneys or staff, as needed.
- Coordinating mail and other logistical tasks to ensure smooth operations.
Education and Experience Information:
The position requires candidates to have a high school diploma or GED, though an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as Google Calendar. Experience with Timeslips or other similar timekeeping and billing software is strongly preferred. The role also demands excellent telephone manners, strong verbal and written communication skills, and proficiency in proofreading and editing.
Salary Information:
The legal assistant position offers a pay range of to per hour, as estimated by the employer. The role is full-time, with an expected commitment of 40 hours per week, structured as an 8-hour shift from Monday to Friday.
