Legal Assistant
## Job Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys in preparing pleadings, motions, and briefs by transcribing dictation and creating documents using Word, templates, forms, etc.
- Handle electronic filing and service of pleadings and discovery in state and federal courts.
- Manage and organize legal files and documents.
- Review and proofread legal documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Support attorneys during trials, hearings, and client meetings.
- Draft correspondence and communicate with clients as needed.
- Perform time and billing tasks and light bookkeeping.
## Education and Experience Information
- High school diploma required.
- Proven experience working in a legal setting or as a Legal Assistant.
- Experience in creating legal pleadings, motions, briefs, and other documents, using proper case citations and legal terminology.
- Familiarity with case management systems.
- Proficiency in using tools such as Word, Microsoft Outlook, Mac OS, Dropbox, and other file-sharing applications is preferred.
- Experience with Timeslips or other time and billing software is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
