Position Overview:
- Registered Nurse/Attorney who provides detailed analysis of medical records and other pertinent medical information
- Assumes leadership and SME role on the team
- Evaluates complex medical issues in claims from various lines of business
- Works with adjusters, management, leadership, and attorneys on strategy issues
Responsibilities:
- Review, analyze, and summarize medical records and other documents
- Research current literature on medical issues
- Provide opinions on medical issues related to causality, standard of care, and prognosis
- Prepare exhibits for legal proceedings
- Assist with finding and preparing medical expert witnesses
- Train and develop adjusters and attorneys
- Attend legal proceedings as needed
- Participate in special projects
- Work with vendors and business partners
- Achieve production and referral expectations
- Reduce costs by addressing medical issues
- Assist with training sessions
- Provide research on relevant issues
- Verify physician credentials
- Prepare for legal proceedings
Qualifications:
- Registered nurse with 5+ years of clinical experience
- Law degree or legal nurse consultant degree/certificate preferred
- Deep understanding of medical diagnoses and treatments
- Knowledge of standard of care in elder care facilities preferred
- Advanced casualty claim knowledge
- Knowledge of healthcare information resources and medical experts
- Knowledge of legal terminology and litigation processes
- Strong analytical and writing skills
- Effective communication skills
- Organizational skills and time management
- Fluent in English
- Technical expertise
- Ability to work with others and adapt to change
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other software
- Ability to use a computer and standard office equipment
- Ability to work on-site and travel as needed
- Ability to work occasional overtime
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing, or stressful environment
