Job Title: Real Estate Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
- Review purchase/sale contracts and loan commitment letters to assess the transaction and formulate a documentation plan for closing.
- Draft necessary documents specific to transactions, compile financial documents, coordinate closings with attorneys, lenders, and clients, and finalize closing figures.
- Review Abstract of Title, property information, mapping, zoning, and taxes.
- Prepare title insurance commitments and policies for lenders and owners.
- Conduct annual follow-ups on post-closing issues such as lien releases and mortgage satisfactions, and complete title insurance policies for prior year transactions.
- Open files, pull tax and tax map information, and enter file data into SoftPro.
- Conduct title searches for Abstract Continuations, prepare transfer documents, statements of sale, and lender closing disclosures.
- Order tax certificates and water readings, prepare title insurance commitments for lenders, coordinate closings, disburse mortgage funds, ship closing packages to lenders, process mortgage payoffs, and follow up on post-closing items.
- Submit necessary documents to the County/DMV for filing and certificates of title.
- Assist and maintain 1099 filings at year-end for all Real Estate files across all offices.
- Maintain escrow files for tax and septic escrows and ensure timely tax payments.
- Correspond and communicate clearly with clients, realtors, attorneys, and lenders.
- Provide support as requested by attorneys or administrative supervisors.
Education and Experience Information:
- High school diploma required; AAS degree preferred.
- Notary Public License highly desired.
- Paralegal Real Estate experience preferred.
- Paralegal certificate helpful.
Skills:
- Proficiency in operating office equipment such as computers, copiers, printers, fax machines, postage meters, binding machines, and typewriters.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Orion, SoftPro (or comparable program), and Title Wave (or comparable program).
- Aptitude for numbers and ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
- Effective communication skills with clients having varying levels of transaction knowledge.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing deadlines and apply problem-solving skills calmly.
- Strong proofreading and editing skills for correspondence and legal documents; attention to detail is crucial.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to read and interpret organizational documents.
Salary Information:
- The salary range is to per hour (Employer provided).
- Median salary is per hour.
