Thompson Hine, a top-ranked law firm by Chambers, is seeking an associate to join our Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation group. This position will be located in any of our offices in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, or Washington, . We specialize in providing counsel to clients on a wide range of employee benefits and executive compensation matters, including the design, implementation, and maintenance of tax-qualified retirement plans, health and welfare benefit programs, non-qualified deferred compensation plans, incentive plans, and severance pay plans. Our client base includes publicly traded corporations, privately owned companies, financial institutions, and various tax-exempt organizations.
In this role, the ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of experience in employee benefits, with a strong focus on analyzing health and welfare and qualified plan issues, as well as drafting health and welfare and qualified plans. A demonstrated ability to work diligently and cultivate strong client relationships is also a requirement for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal counsel to clients on employee benefits and executive compensation matters
- Analyze and draft health and welfare and qualified plans
- Assist with the design, implementation, and maintenance of tax-qualified retirement plans
- Advise on non-qualified deferred compensation plans, incentive plans, and severance pay plans
- Handle ERISA fiduciary matters and benefits aspects of M&A transactions
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships
Qualifications:
- 3-6 years of experience in employee benefits
- Strong knowledge of health and welfare and qualified plan issues
- Demonstrated ability to draft health and welfare and qualified plans
- Experience with tax-qualified retirement plans, non-qualified deferred compensation plans, incentive plans, and severance pay plans
- Familiarity with ERISA fiduciary matters and benefits aspects of M&A transactions
- Excellent work ethic and ability to cultivate client relationships
