Job Responsibilities:
The ERISA/Employee Benefits Associate Attorney at the law firm is responsible for handling transactional ERISA, employee benefit, and executive compensation matters. The role involves advising clients on ERISA and tax implications related to retirement plans, welfare plans, non-qualified deferred compensation arrangements, and employment agreements. The attorney will work within the law firm’s ERISA/Tax Practice group, which may require collaboration with other practice and industry groups within the firm. The position requires a broad understanding of ERISA, tax, and related laws pertaining to employee benefit plans. Additionally, the attorney will engage in counseling clients, particularly on ESOP transactions and advising existing ESOPs. The role demands strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, along with excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the ERISA/Employee Benefits Associate Attorney position must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in handling transactional ERISA, employee benefit, and executive compensation matters within a law firm setting. A broad understanding of ERISA, tax, and related laws is essential. Experience with ESOP transactions and advising existing ESOPs is strongly preferred. An active law license in the state of practice is required for this position.
