Job Title: Real Estate Paralegal Team Lead

Job Responsibilities:
The Real Estate Paralegal Team Lead is tasked with managing the operations of the paralegal team within the department. This role involves coordinating workflow among paralegals, ensuring efficient case and deal staffing, and reassigning work as necessary. The Team Lead partners with work allocation managers to optimize team performance. A key responsibility includes identifying and providing training opportunities to ensure the professional development of the paralegal team.

The Team Lead assists the Associate Director of Paralegal Operations with administrative responsibilities, such as scheduling, reviewing, and approving bi-weekly timecards and PTO requests. They are expected to provide insights into any potential performance issues or employee relations matters, working closely with the Associate Director to address these concerns.

Mentorship is a crucial aspect of this role. The Team Lead mentors new paralegals and participates in the onboarding process for new team members. They also schedule and host group meetings in collaboration with the Associate Director to inform paralegals about firm initiatives, new software implementations, and other relevant guidance.

The Team Lead performs substantive legal work on behalf of law firm clients, as directed by attorneys. This includes coordinating documentation and closing real estate transactions such as sales, purchases, leases, and mortgage financing. They are responsible for reviewing title commitments, title documents, and surveys, ensuring all pre-closing preparation and post-closing follow-up are completed timely. Legal research, including retrieval of statutes and regulations, is also part of their duties.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for this position are required to meet at least two of the following criteria: a four-year college degree, a Paralegal Certificate, or two years of previous paralegal experience. Previous supervisory experience is preferred, or alternatively, attendance at supervisory, leadership, or managerial training courses as defined by the current supervisor.

Essential Job Specifications/Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under minimal supervision. Attention to detail is critical, along with the capability to interact professionally with clients at all levels, both internally and externally. Flexibility, the ability to handle pressure, and adaptability to changing work priorities are essential.

The role requires clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to maintain and build confidences and trust. The candidate must perform well under stressful circumstances and meet deadlines, demonstrating strong organizational skills to independently manage large volumes of documents.

Proficiency in computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is necessary, along with familiarity with legal software programs and electronic research tools. The candidate must be willing to work overtime and travel up to ten times per year for extended periods. The ability to work off-site at client locations, various firm offices, and other venues is also required.

Salary Information:
The estimated compensation range for this position, at the time of posting, is between $105,000 to $115,000 for California, Colorado, Illinois, and New York. Actual compensation will depend on various factors such as relevant experience, skill sets, training, licensure and certifications, internal equity, market data, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This range is based on a full-time work schedule, and additional compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus.
