Job Title: Litigation Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, complaints, and legal memoranda.
- E-file all court documents in state and federal court.
- Communicate with clients, court, counsel, and other parties involved in legal proceedings.
- Conduct legal research and factual investigations to support case preparation.
- Prepare discovery documents, interrogatories, and responses.
- Draft and serve summons.
- Coordinate and summarize depositions for attorney review.
- Prepare trial binders and organize exhibits for trial.
- Draft pleadings, motions, and appellate documents, and file them with the court.
- Perform administrative duties such as calendaring hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and managing logistics.
- Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes.
- Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices for trial use.
- Assist attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests.
- Gather relevant information from various sources for case preparation.
- Liaise between trial teams and internal/external third parties involved in the case.
- Prepare witnesses for trial testimony.
- Assist with case settlements and negotiations.
- Perform other tasks as requested by the attorney.
Education and Experience Information:
- Associate degree, certificate, or equivalent work experience is preferred.
- 2+ years of litigation experience is required.
- Completion of a nationally accredited paralegal program is preferred.
- Experience in personal injury, workers' compensation, premises liability, or other injury-related practice areas is preferred.
- Must possess the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage workload with a positive attitude and minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Proficiency in calendaring depositions, mediations, and hearings is essential.
- Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules, and procedures is required.
- Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Extensive computer and database expertise, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and the ability to type no less than 35 words per minute.
- This position is not eligible for remote work.
