Job Responsibilities
A Legal Assistant in this role is responsible for providing a range of legal support and administrative assistance to lawyers and other legal professionals within the law firm. The primary focus is on representing financial institutions in areas such as bankruptcy, collections, foreclosure, litigation, and residential real estate or mortgage law. Key duties include:
- Assisting attorneys in representing clients during bankruptcy proceedings.
- Reviewing daily reports to ensure efficient and timely handling of files.
- Evaluating information and documents provided by clients to determine if a referral is warranted.
- Organizing, analyzing, and cross-checking/validating information.
- Drafting legal documents including pleadings, motions, objections, and assignments.
- Proofreading legal forms and documents for accuracy.
- Providing support to paralegals, management, and attorneys.
- Assisting with additional projects as needed.
Education and Experience Information
- A high school diploma is required.
- Previous experience in a law firm is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience in bankruptcy or mortgage servicing is preferred but not required.
- Relevant computer knowledge and experience are necessary.
- Strong communication skills (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Excellent planning and organizing skills, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in research, analytical, and critical thinking skills is crucial.

Salary Information
The position is paid on an hourly basis.
