Job Title: Senior Manager, Accounting Methods

Job Responsibilities:

The Senior Manager, Accounting Methods, plays a crucial role in the STS Accounting Methods group, which is part of the company's Specialized Tax Services (STS) business. This position is focused on optimizing federal tax accounting methods for various industries, including technology, manufacturing, healthcare, architecture/engineering services, and consumer products. The responsibilities include:

Research:
- Conducts thorough research on tax implications and prepares studies to outline alternative courses of action for clients.
- Confirms the accuracy of facts and sources and prepares effective research memos.
- Develops presentations for marketing and sales opportunities.

Tax Compliance:
- Ensures client compliance with applicable authorities and identifies options to minimize tax and reporting burdens.
- Identifies "gray areas" and communicates related risks to partners.
- Completes workpapers and tax return forms, ensuring firm risk management and tax quality control standards are met.

Tax Consulting:
- Develops, recommends, and implements solutions for maximizing client tax benefits.
- Stays informed of new developments affecting clients’ tax accounting methods and communicates effective approaches to partners.
- Identifies process improvements for STS Accounting Methods.

Tax Controversy:
- Represents clients before tax authorities and responds effectively to inquiries from federal and state tax authorities.

Tax Specialization:
- Develops an in-depth understanding of tax accounting methods and identifies opportunities and issues related to other tax specializations.

Strategy Development:
- Develops strategies to advance the position of clients and the firm.
- Suggests marketing approaches for new client acquisition.

Marketing and Business Development:
- Exhibits thought leadership in Tax Accounting Methods and is recognized as a go-to person in this area.
- Works with partners and business development managers to develop and execute effective marketing plans.
- Prepares and delivers presentations and proposals to clients and potential clients.
- Engages in research and special projects to develop the practice and improve processes.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises and reviews the work of Senior Associates and Associates on engagements.
- Ensures team members are well trained and evaluates their performance.
- Acts as a Career Advisor and provides performance feedback.

Education and Experience Information:

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required; a degree in Accounting, Tax, or Finance is preferred.
- Master’s degree and Juris Doctorate (.) are preferred.

Experience:
- A minimum of seven years of prior Federal tax client service experience is required.
- Prior experience in supervising tax consulting professionals is required.
- Experience with accounting methods, preparing/reviewing tax provisions, corporate taxation, consolidations, and partnerships is preferred.

License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent ("EA") is required.

Software:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word, is preferred.
- Experience with tax-related software and research databases such as Caseware and GoSystems is preferred.

Salary Information:

Individual salaries offered to candidates are determined after considering various factors, including qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. The salary range is as follows:
- National Range: $99,750 - $262,500
- Maryland Range: $99,750 - $262,500
- NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $99,750 - $262,500
- Washington DC Range: $99,750 - $262,500
