Job Title: Paralegal II – IP Litigation

Job Responsibilities:
The Paralegal II in IP Litigation at the law firm is tasked with a comprehensive set of responsibilities that cover various aspects of litigation case management and support. This role involves managing the flow of information throughout the litigation process, ensuring adherence to best practices, and developing effective working relationships with senior partners and clients. The essential functions include:

- Litigation Case Management:
- Interacting with vendors and government agencies to obtain necessary information and materials.
- Managing document production processes, including collecting materials from various parties and maintaining the chain of custody.
- Working through all phases of the discovery process, including designing and managing document review systems and preparing privilege logs.
- Managing the logistics of document production and maintaining case records.

- Substantive Research:
- Analyzing documents and performing factual research.
- Compiling information into charts, graphs, and timelines.
- Researching prior testimony and publications of opposing experts and ensuring adherence to procedural rules.

- Coordination of Briefs and Legal Documents:
- Drafting routine filings and performing legal cite checking.
- Assembling and organizing appendices, exhibits, and supporting documents for court filings.

- Interaction with Outside Entities:
- Working with trial consultants on graphics and courtroom logistics.
- Managing litigation support systems and preparation for witnesses and depositions.

- Trial Preparation and Support:
- Identifying and compiling potential trial exhibits and managing off-site trial offices.
- Coordinating scheduling of witnesses and managing trial materials.

- Resource Management:
- Supervising legal staff and obtaining support from various departments and vendors.
- Managing large volumes of documents during the discovery phase by setting up databases.

- Initiative and Performance Management:
- Anticipating needs, handling multiple projects, and seeking process improvements.
- Training staff, enforcing firm policies, and managing performance efficiently.

- Problem Solving and Information Management:
- Breaking down problems to find solutions and making decisions within constraints.
- Designing and implementing systems to manage large volumes of data.

- Communication and Influencing:
- Maintaining professionalism and clarity in communication.
- Selling ideas and proposals to partners and clients.

- Technology Utilization:
- Keeping up to date with relevant technologies and training staff on their use.
- Developing and selecting new technical applications.

- Monitoring for Accuracy and Quality:
- Maintaining high work quality under pressure and developing systems to coordinate work product.

Education and Experience Information:
The ideal candidate for the Paralegal II – IP Litigation position should have at least five years of IP Litigation Paralegal experience, with a Bachelor’s degree preferred. The role requires complex IP litigation experience, including preparing for trials in various Federal court venues, managing large discovery requests, and supervising paralegal teams. Experience with Copyright and Trademark Litigation is advantageous. Candidates should have experience managing out-of-town trial offices for cases that have reached a verdict. Additional qualifications include excellent analytical and organizational abilities, solid communication and management skills, creativity, and initiative. Flexibility for travel and overtime is required.

Technologies/Software:
Candidates must possess high-level experience with a range of litigation support applications, including web-based platforms.

Salary Information:
The base salary range for this position in New York City is between $100,000 and $145,000.
