Job Title: Desktop Engineer II

Job Responsibilities:
The Desktop Engineer II position within the IT department at the law firm is responsible for a range of duties revolving around the design, maintenance, troubleshooting, and management of desktop systems. The role involves:

- Handling, troubleshooting, and resolving call incidents escalated to the team.
- Providing end-user support and troubleshooting for issues related to document comparison, metadata removal, proofreading, and collaboration tools.
- Assisting with testing and rolling out document lifecycle tools.
- Assisting with Word plug-in software updates, version control, and integration into the Document Management System (DMS).
- Designing, installing, and managing desktop management systems.
- Staying current on desktop-related security issues, trends, and best practices, including relevant security bulletins and current events.
- Testing, reviewing, and deploying desktop security patches, virus definitions, and other security-related updates.
- Engaging in research and vendor relations relating to initial engagement, testing, and assessment of applications.
- Collaborating with vendors to resolve application or platform problems.
- Testing and distributing new or upgraded applications and operating systems.
- Configuring and testing workstations, laptops, and necessary peripherals.
- Supporting and training department staff.
- Developing and documenting best practices, processes, and procedures related to all aspects of the desktop environment, software distribution, and desktop management.
- Collaborating with other teams to support projects and initiatives.
- Performing other work-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the Desktop Engineer II position are required to have a bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years of experience in the desktop field. Additionally, they should possess:

- Strong working knowledge of document lifecycle tools.
- Proficiency in software and image distribution tools such as Microsoft SCCM/Intune and Altiris management platforms.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise-class security protection platforms.
- An understanding of scripting and other automation methods.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows as a Service operating systems.
- An understanding of the desktop's role in an enterprise networked environment.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Strong leadership skills.

They should be creative, flexible, and able to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities. The ability to work under tight deadlines, handle multiple detailed tasks, and work in a teamwork/collaborative style is essential. Candidates should also be organized, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively in a multi-office environment.

Salary Information:

- Boston, Chicago, Washington, .: $81,000 - $123,550
- New York: $84,900 - $129,450
- San Francisco: $88,700 - $135,300

The position is also eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity.

Working Conditions:
