Job Title: Sr. Counsel Employment (Corporate Functions) (Hybrid: Onsite and Remote Work)

Job Responsibilities:
The Sr. Counsel Employment position is responsible for providing comprehensive legal guidance to corporate management across various departments such as Finance, IT, Shared Business Services, Replenishment, and Human Resources. Key responsibilities include:

- Offering legal advice on a wide range of employment and human resources matters, including policies, procedures, wage and hour compliance, leaves of absence, accommodations, and restrictive covenants.
- Assessing risks related to terminations and compliance investigations.
- Drafting, reviewing, analyzing, and negotiating employment-related agreements, including consulting, hiring, terminations, compensation, severance plans, incentive, non-compete, and confidentiality agreements.
- Advising senior management, Human Resources leaders, and corporate function leaders on avoiding discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims.
- Responding to EEOC or state agency charges and attorney demand letters, particularly concerning restrictive covenant matters or discrimination/harassment/retaliation.
- Advising on employment compliance regarding termination decisions and reductions-in-force to achieve business objectives while minimizing risk.
- Conducting internal compliance investigations of alleged non-compliance or employee misconduct, with a focus on employee relations matters such as sexual harassment, discrimination, disrespectful behavior, and workplace violence.
- Partnering with Human Resources, Legal, and senior functional leaders to recommend personnel action or other mitigation measures based on investigative findings.
- Understanding the business and industry to diagnose legal problems in the employment context and present creative solutions for management.
- Making practical risk assessments balancing legal obligations and business needs.
- Communicating and operating candidly and transparently to engage and influence diverse teams in a collaborative, decentralized environment.
- Taking a proactive, energetic, and enthusiastic approach to tasks, with confidence and a sense of humor to work with demanding business teams.
- Translating complex legal issues into clear business terms for clients at all levels.
- Challenging the status quo when appropriate, and operating with maturity, stature, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrating unquestioned integrity and ethics in business and personal conduct.

- Performing special assignments or projects as assigned by the Associate General Counsel, Employment & Compliance.

Relationships:
- Internal: Collaborates with Human Resources, Senior Management, and Corporate Function Leaders.
- External: Interacts with external counsel and federal, state, and local regulatory authorities.

Education and Experience Information:
The ideal candidate for the Sr. Counsel Employment position should possess:

- A minimum of three to six years of experience focused on employment law, with significant experience in providing advice and counsel and/or handling employment litigation, including single plaintiff and class/collective action cases, EEOC and state agency charges, and pre-litigation demand letters.
- An undergraduate degree and a law degree with academic achievement from nationally recognized institutions.
- Admission to and in good standing with a . state bar association.

Salary Information:
Compensation for the Sr. Counsel Employment role is dependent on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other applicable factors. The expected base salary range for this position is between $110,000 and $180,000.
