Job Summary:
The Law Firm Collector or Collections Specialist is responsible for reviewing and negotiating files for collections, making decisions on the best course of action and managing the collections process. This position requires strong negotiation skills, deductive reasoning and the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Review files for collection efforts and determine the best course of action to collect the debt
- Contact debtors, attorneys and third parties through outbound and inbound phone calls to negotiate payment terms and methods
- Utilize skiptracing techniques to locate assets and gather information
- Record and update detailed account information to aid in account resolution
- Adhere to FDCPA and state and federal laws and regulations
- Maintain established performance metrics
- Comply with policies and procedures as required
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalency required
- Collections experience preferred
- Fluent in English, proficiency in Spanish a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical and detail-oriented
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and multi-task
- Basic computer skills and ability to use standard office equipment
- Willingness to work one late shift per week and one Saturday per month
