In-House Employment Counsel (US) at Top International Law Firm

The Legal Department:

- Responsible for managing the firm's risk exposure and providing legal and compliance advice
- Comprised of both lawyers and non-lawyers

Role Summary:

- In-House Employment Counsel (US) will play a key role in the global Legal Department
- Responsible for advising on employment issues and managing risk exposure
- Will support colleagues in other offices and advise on employment matters across the firm's global network

Responsibilities:

- Provide expert legal advice on personnel matters
- Collaborate with HR department to ensure compliance with employment laws and firm policies
- Draft and review employment contracts and other legal documents
- Conduct legal research and stay updated on employment laws and regulations
- Lead or assist with HR-related investigations
- Liaise with outside counsel on employment-related litigation
- Develop and implement legal strategies to minimize risk and ensure compliance
- Train management and staff on employment law matters

Requirements:

- Must hold a law degree and be admitted to practice in the jurisdiction of their Freshfields home office
- At least 4 years of experience practicing employment law
- Excellent drafting and communication skills
- Meticulous approach to record-keeping
- Ability to manage workload and deliver difficult messages
- High level of IT skills
- Willingness to work outside of regular hours and travel as needed

Salary Information:

- For New York-based positions, estimated compensation range is $175,000 to $225,000
- Compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, skills, and location
