There needs to be improvement in the area of offering employees and staff guidance through mentorship. The law firm should offer varied working schedule with less hours.

A law firm in which the environment promotes to think outside the box. The work varies and is abundant but sometimes captivating.

The law firm misses the component of offering employees and staff guidance through mentorship. This law firm may be difficult to work for if having trouble with balancing work and life.

Provide a better work/life balance and work on improving management.

The service is excellent. Employees are great to work with. Overall, great place.

There is not a good work/life balance. Hours are tough and some employees should be avoided.

Practice Areas

Proskauer Rose LLP practices law in the following areas and works with its clients to provide the best possible legal solutions.

Hiring Criteria

Proskauer Rose LLP follows the set of hiring criteria outlined below.

At Proskauer Rose, qualities such as academic success and intelligence, commitment, maturity, judgment, creativity, diligence, leadership, undergraduate performance and non-academic accomplishments are taken into account before finalizing any candidate for the role of associate as the firm. It recruits through job fairs and campus recruitments. In 2011, Proskauer visited 19 law schools in the U.S. and attended four job fairs.

Pro bono

Proskauer Rose encourages all attorneys to bill a minimum of 50 pro bono hours annually, and every first-year associate is assigned his or her own pro bono matter when starting at the firm. In 2010, 76% of associates each performed 62 hours of pro bono work.

The firm believes that introducing associates to pro bono work early in their careers helps instill in them a commitment to integrating this work into their professional lives.

The firm caters to community groups, refugees seeking asylum, domestic violence victims, artists and musicians among many others. The firm's lawyers have played a crucial role in shaping important issues such as gun control, voting rights, prisoner rights and legal ethics.

Diversity Write a review

Proskauer Rose is committed to ensure equal opportunity and diversity in the practice of law. Diversity is an essential part of the company's overall commitment to excellence and will enhance one's experience with the firm.

The firm recruits candidates from a diverse pool of applicants. It is the policy of Proskauer to ensure equal employment opportunity without discrimination or harassment on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, creed, sex, age, disability, citizenship status, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Summer associate program

The summer program is a gateway for entry of new lawyers at Proskauer. It has remained so for more than 30 years and for many of its current partners, Proskauer was the first firm to begin their career. Proskauer Rose offers a 10-week summer program in most of its domestic offices. The program is considered as an all-around 'great' experience. Summer associates are expected to complete 6 to 15 assignments during the summer.

The summer program includes periodic seminars and other activities, like participation in a cross-examination workshop, a corporate negotiation workshop, a legal ethics seminar, and a litigation workshop, all of which are designed to develop practice skills, provide insights into substantive legal issues and impart the basics of various practice areas.

The firm made offers to 88% of its 2009 summer associates. In 2010, the firm had a 100% offer rate among its 36 summer associates, but the firm reduced the summer class size by 65% from 112 summer associates the previous year. Proskauer also gave 100% offers to its 2011 New York summer class. Summer associates get compensation of US $ 3,077 per week.

Working for the Proskauer Rose LLP
Many believe that Proskauer provides a cordial and enjoyable atmosphere. Young associates have lots of opportunity to take responsibility for cases early and to learn quickly if they take advantage of the opportunities. Proskauer has a great balance of tradition and progressiveness.

A few concerns include management decisions at times can be somewhat murky. Also, associates believe that the firm overloads with hours targets, which may lead to a stressful job.

"We believe that challenging our workforce to participate, grow and contribute ideas helps to make this an exciting and successful environment that benefits the firm, our people and our clients," the firm states on its website.
