Job Title: Immigration Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
The Immigration Paralegal at the law firm will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities designed to support attorneys and clients in immigration-related matters. Key duties include:
- Providing direct assistance to attorneys, specifically in Family-Based, Humanitarian, and EOIR-related immigration cases.
- Managing clients, documents, forms, and compiling applications for assigned case types.
- Meeting with clients to prepare applications, ensuring forms are filled out correctly, reviewed by attorneys, and submitted on time to meet deadlines.
- Managing incoming documents by communicating with clients to ensure timely submission of all requested documents according to guidelines.
- Answering client questions regarding case status or other issues that do not require direct attorney attention.
- Efficiently managing time to benefit the client’s case, focusing on in-person tasks and delegating others to remote assistants.
- Ethically using technological resources, including legal research tools, software, and artificial intelligence, for the benefit of EOIR clients as directed by the attorney.
- Demonstrating personal initiative with ideas to improve functionality and efficiency within the office.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the Immigration Paralegal position should possess the following qualifications:
- Dedication to the law firm’s mission to provide immigrants with the best chance of success.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is required.
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
- A Paralegal certificate is preferred.
- At least three years, preferably five years, of experience working in an immigration law firm.
- Capable and independent in legal research, legal screening, drafting legal arguments, and compiling immigration cases.
- Experience with case management software.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Honest, self-motivated, reliable, and flexible.
- Skilled in problem-solving, organization, and attention to detail.
- Poised and relaxed under stress, with the ability to work well with deadlines and multitasking.
- Capable of working independently while also functioning cohesively as part of a small office team.
- Skilled in document, case, file, and task management.
- Knowledge of basic computer functions and features.
- Independent in handling several immigration case types, such as I-485, I-589, U Visa, etc.
Salary Information:
The salary for the Immigration Paralegal position at the law firm will be offered within a range of $55,000 to $75,000, commensurate with skill, ability, and experience. The position offers a benefits package and adheres to normal office hours of Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, with a 30-minute lunch break. The law firm values work-life balance, considering a full-time workweek to be 40 hours, with no evening or weekend hours expected.
