Enterprise Data Specialist
Job Responsibilities:
The Enterprise Data Specialist at the law firm is integral to the Data and Analytics team, focusing on analyzing, documenting, and enhancing enterprise data assets, workflows, and reporting frameworks. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the creation and maintenance of enterprise data dictionaries, ensuring alignment with taxonomy and data model standards.
- Collaborating with application owners, IT teams, and business users to document data flows, dependencies, and system interactions.
- Converting business requirements into structured technical specifications for data initiatives and performing gap analyses to identify standardization and optimization opportunities.
- Developing and maintaining a firm-wide taxonomy to standardize classification and organization of data objects, ensuring alignment with business requirements and regulatory frameworks.
- Establishing data quality metrics, conducting data audits, and collaborating with subject matter experts to resolve data quality issues.
- Acting as a liaison between IT, business teams, and data governance stakeholders, ensuring alignment across data-driven initiatives.
- Maintaining centralized documentation repositories and establishing a feedback loop for continuous improvement of documentation and reporting capabilities.
Education and Experience Information:
Education/Training/Certifications:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Data Analytics, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Preferred: Master’s degree in the aforementioned fields.
- Preferred certifications include Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), and Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Analyst Associate or equivalent certification in AWS/GCP.
Professional Experience:
- 7-10 years of experience in data analysis, business analysis, or technical documentation, preferably within legal, professional services, or financial services environments.
- Proven experience in documenting business processes, data flows, and system integrations.
- Hands-on experience with data profiling, data quality analysis, and metadata management.
- Experience in supporting data governance initiatives and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Preferred: Experience in an international law firm or multinational professional services firm handling multi-jurisdictional data policies and compliance requirements.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Visio, Miro, SQL, and Excel for data documentation and analysis.
- Experience with relational databases and metadata management tools.
- Familiarity with ETL processes and project management frameworks like Agile and Scrum.
Performance Traits:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Self-starter with a high level of initiative in problem-solving and process improvement.
- Strong customer service orientation, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Ability to present complex data concepts to nontechnical stakeholders and collaborate effectively across departments.
Salary Information:
The typical pay scale for this position ranges between $124,700 and $164,900. However, the actual salary may vary depending on the candidate's education, experience, skills, and internal pay alignment.
