Job Title: Homicide Assistant District Attorney
Job Responsibilities:
- Prosecute homicides from investigation through trial, ensuring justice is served while maintaining integrity and fairness for all parties involved.
- Serve rotations of 24-hour on-call duty to respond promptly to emerging situations.
- Respond to crime scenes to gather critical information and evidence.
- Conduct interviews with witnesses and/or defendants to build strong cases.
- Draft and secure necessary legal documents such as search warrants, trap and traces, and cell site orders.
- Present homicide cases to the grand jury to seek indictments.
- Establish and maintain relationships with witnesses and surviving families to provide support and gather essential testimony.
- Handle a high-volume caseload efficiently and effectively, ensuring timely and thorough case management.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Chief of Homicide or other supervising authority.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Juris Doctor degree is required for this position.
- Candidates must have a minimum of 7 years of criminal trial experience, showcasing their ability to handle complex legal proceedings.
- Experience in conducting at least 5 felony jury trials is necessary to demonstrate proficiency in trial settings.
