Job Title: Assistant District Attorney - Community Justice Bureau

Job Responsibilities:
The Assistant District Attorney (ADA) in the Community Justice Bureau is tasked with several key responsibilities aimed at promoting fair justice and offering treatment opportunities to defendants in Bronx County. The ADA will assess case referrals to determine the appropriateness of program dispositions and maintain a caseload of treatment cases, ensuring compliance with treatment protocols. Responsibilities include staffing court parts like JD/T, the gun possession treatment part, and Veterans’ Court, participating in daily case conferencing meetings, and conferencing cases with defendants, their attorneys, and complainants. The ADA will cultivate relationships with agencies and programs such as TASC, Bronx Community Solutions, and the Center for Justice Innovation, attend relevant trainings and meetings, and perform duties to support the Criminal Justice Bureau and the Office at large.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor degree and have a minimum of three years of criminal law experience, with a strong preference for prosecutorial experience. US Citizenship and New York State Residency are required from the first day of employment. Applicants must be members in good standing of the New York State Bar and provide a current certificate of good standing. The role requires strong knowledge and experience with New York State Penal Law and Criminal Procedure Law, a demonstrated commitment to seeking program dispositions, and the ability to multi-task and exercise good judgment and strong ethics. Familiarity with the principles of treatment courts and program opportunities in New York City is also essential. The ideal candidate should be a skilled communicator capable of working in a multidisciplinary setting and maintaining strong relationships with various agencies and organizations.

Salary Information:
The salary range for the Assistant District Attorney position in the Community Justice Bureau is $97, to $178,.
