Job Title: Summer Recruiting Intern
Job Responsibilities:
The Summer Recruiting Intern at the law firm will operate under the supervision of the Houston Recruiting Manager. Their primary responsibilities include supporting the summer associate and fall recruiting programs, managing lawyer on-boarding and off-boarding processes, and participating in special projects. The intern will collaborate closely with the local Hiring Partner, Recruiting Manager, Recruiting Coordinator, and Employment Committee to ensure the smooth execution of recruitment activities. Specific tasks include:
- Managing administrative tasks for the Recruiting Manager, which involve maintaining the recruiting database, tracking applicants, processing expense requests, generating correspondence, and preparing statistical reports.
- Assisting in the planning and implementation of the Summer Associate Program, covering areas such as on-boarding/off-boarding, work assignments, evaluations, advisor programs, budget tracking, and event planning and attendance.
- Supporting the planning and execution of fall and spring law school on-campus interviews.
- Coordinating callback interviews and managing the offer process.
- Assisting with entry-level associate on-boarding, off-boarding, and status changes.
- Providing assistance with lateral hiring when necessary.
- Participating in any other tasks and special projects as assigned by the Recruiting Manager.
Education and Experience Information:
The position requires a high school diploma, with some college courses preferred. Candidates must have a minimum of six months of experience in a legal or professional services office environment. The role demands strong technical skills, particularly proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Additionally, the candidate must possess strong communication skills, a professional demeanor, and exceptional customer service orientation. Other essential qualities include the ability to handle confidential information, strong interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic, and professional appearance. The intern should be a self-starter capable of working in a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
Working Conditions and Environment:
This is a non-exempt position requiring hours per week, with the possibility of evening and weekend work due to the nature of the role. The physical demands are minimal but include the ability to routinely lift and carry items weighing 5-10 pounds, work at a computer for extended periods, and engage in extensive telephone use. The position also requires the ability to lift, squat, kneel, and bend, as well as the capacity to conduct face-to-face and phone interactions with summer associates, lawyers, caterers, and event planners.
