Job Responsibilities:
The role of a File Clerk at the law firm involves the organization and management of both physical and electronic files. Key responsibilities include:
- Checking incoming documents from the e-filing system, including pleadings, hearing notices, and discovery materials.
- Sorting papers alphabetically and by content, date, and significance.
- Creating or updating litigation and client files with new information.
- Inputting data into litigation files regarding case information, parties involved, and subject matter.
- Storing all documents in designated places to secure important information.
- Entering paperwork into an electronic system via data entry or optical scanning.
- Handling requests for file access and maintaining logs of borrowed documents.
- Following policies and confidentiality guidelines to protect data and information.
- Performing additional clerical or administrative duties as needed or assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Proven experience as a file clerk is necessary.
- Knowledge of filing systems is essential.
